About The Ohio Lesbian Archives

Ohio Lesbian Archives has been collecting materials by and about Lesbians and Greater Cincinnati LGBTQ+ communities for more than three decades. We are open by appointment for students, researchers, or anyone curious about our collections. We have books, magazines, photographs, music, personal and organizational files, newspaper clippings, video, art, and so much more!

We used to be above the old Crazy Ladies Bookstore in the Northside area of Cincinnati, Ohio. We are now located in the eCenter at Washington Park, 1308 Race St., Cincinnati, OH 45202

We are one of a handful of lesbian archives in the United States.

    1. Susan, Thank you for your interest. Yes, all the information is still correct. To see or use the Archives, you have to make an appointment since we’re a small volunteer group. Best to email us with what works best for your schedule. Phebe for OLA

  2. Hi there, how do we volunteer? I would love to contribute to my community as well as learn about those women who have paved the way for fellow lgbt folks..❤️

    1. Hi, Claryssa, Thanks so much for your interest in the Archives, so much that you are willing to volunteer! Please email us at OLArchives@gmail.com and remind me (Phebe) that you approached us on our blog. We are creating a few Volunteer Introduction Sessions and will give you an orientation and let you know what opportunities there are. Sorry to give you another step but this will help us be organized. We’ll contact you by email as soon as possible. Phebe

  3. Hey, my name is Ell (she/they).
I have been a fan of queer history for quite some time and have had a lot of friends suggest I look up your organization. I have a small collection of my own and really enjoy connecting people to the past through the stories that antique (and ancient) queer items tell. I wanted to reach out and explore possible opportunities to help with the archive and promote greater visibility of historic lesbian (and queer) expression.

    1. Hi, Ellie, We’d love to show you our collection and have you collaborate with us as a volunteer! We are open most Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm. It’d be good to know you’re coming so, if you don’t mind, just drop us an email at olarchives@gmail.com and let us know what date works for you. Either Nancy or I will greet you and show you an overview of our collection. Just know this is the only regular time we’re open right now (we are all volunteers). Hope to hear from you soon! Phebe, founder and current Pres of the Board
